A Texas-Sized UV Pilot: Pursuing Alternative Disinfection

To evaluate replacement of the Trinity River Authority’s current chlorination/dechlorination facilities at the Central Regional Wastewater System, Garver, alongside CDM Smith and CP&Y, completed field operations of a UV pilot of ultraviolet disinfection process. The project required simultaneously pilot-testing four parallel UV disinfection processes, along with a parallel peracetic acid feed and reactor. Garver also evaluated high-rate clarification of the secondary effluent prior to UV disinfection during ongoing operations and testing of the peracetic acid reactor.
