Bridging Policy and Practice: TxDOT’s STIP Modernization Initiative

Meeting federal requirements while balancing stakeholder needs is a challenge for public agencies. For TxDOT, this is especially true in developing the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), a federally required, fiscally constrained four-year plan for transportation projects. To improve consistency and coordination, TxDOT launched the STIP Modernization initiative, using national best practices, district and MPO input, and data tools to streamline development.
