ITS Best Practices and Lessons Learned
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is becoming an everyday part of transportation networks. State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) are heavily investing in ITS for the purpose of roadway safety improvements and transportation system maintenance and operations. Conceptualized, planning, and designing ITS can be challenging. ITS deployments installed within an existing roadway right-of-way footprint has very different challenges compared to designing for ITS in a brand-new roadway construction project limit. This Transportation Tuesday talk will discuss best practices for ITS design in new construction as well as lessons learned from Garver’s ITS design scope of work for ARDOT’s Northern Springdale Bypass project.
