Through this experience, Garver understands the complexities of airport systems held together by runways, taxiways, aprons, and roadways that need to work in tandem to accommodate daily needs for travel and transport. The Aviation Project Engineer will primarily be responsible for applying pavement engineering principles and techniques to airfield projects of various size and complexity. This position will complete pavement structural designs, perform field evaluation of pavement conditions, and analyze various pavement testing and evaluate results. The Project Engineer will assist with report writing and developing project deliverables. The Aviation Project Engineer must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplined team, work with diverse clients, and produce complete deliverables, including exhibits, technical reports, cost estimates, and specifications.
Responsibilities will include
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in pavement investigations
- Complete pavement designs utilizing the Federal Aviation Administration’s pavement design software and current design standards
- Process and analyze collected data to develop recommendations for existing and new pavement design and construction
- Assist in preparing summary reports, studies, cost estimates, specifications, and other technical deliverables
- Assist in developing project scope of work and subcontractor request for proposals for pavement management projects
- Collaborate with team members, subconsultants, and project stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 0-1 years of related experience
- Passed the FE exam, or ability to do so within 6 months of hire
- Strong written and oral communication skills with both internal employees and external clients
- Some travel may be required (approximately 10% with occasional overnight)
Preferred Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge and ability to design in CAD programs, including AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Licensed pilot or other aviation-related experience
