Our Aviation Design Center leads the design for projects large and small across the Garver footprint and include scopes such as runway, taxiway, and apron rehabilitations, reconstructions, and/or extensions, airfield construction safety and phasing, safety area improvements, utility improvements, perimeter fencing, service road improvements, conceptual planning studies, terminal improvements, corporate hangar developments, and various landside improvements.
Garver’s Tampa Aviation Design Center is looking for an Aviation Stormwater Project Manager to join our diverse, skilled design team. The Aviation Stormwater Project Manager will have the opportunity to lead aviation stormwater design projects, develop an aviation dedicated stormwater design team, mentor junior engineers, and directly contribute to Garver’s growth momentum in the Florida aviation market. Some representative projects include: stormwater design for complex runway and taxiway reconstruction/rehabilitation, stormwater master plans, private hangar development at general aviation airports, and terminal expansions at medium and large hub commercial airports. The Aviation Stormwater Project Manager will be supported in their efforts by an accountable, organized staff of experienced aviation civil engineers, electrical engineers, hydrological modeling specialists, and CAD technicians. This position is suited to technically savvy engineers who thrive on collaborating with colleagues to create lasting, quality infrastructure.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead stormwater design and permitting efforts for projects at commercial service and general aviation airports throughout Florida and across the country
- Prepare calculations for the design of stormwater detention and conveyance
- Coordinate floodplain permits, including a determination of base flood elevations
- Design grading and stormwater drainage plans including pre and post terrain modeling
- Construction administration and oversite for aviation clients
- Collaborate and coordinate with multi-disciple design teams
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of stormwater design engineers and technicians
- Provide outstanding client service
- Serving as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for reviewing deliverables related to drainage design and analysis.
- Assisting the Business Team Leader and Project Manager with marketing efforts including, proposal writing, client interaction, and public engagements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida, or the ability to achieve Florida licensure within 6 months of being hired
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with progressive stormwater design project experience, including project management
- Previous experience working with multi-disciplined teams
- Responsive and consistent in communications
- Experience permitting stormwater projects with Water Management Districts in Florida
- Experience with stormwater modeling programs such as Stormwise (formerly ICPR), SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), Autodesk SSA, etc.
- Occasional travel for project specific needs during design and/or construction
Preferred Skills
- Stormwater design experience at airports including knowledge of FAA design standards
- Experience in managing construction projects at airports
- Licensed pilot or other aviation-related experience
