Garver has an opening in our Atlanta, GA office for a Construction Inspector whose primary duties will include the inspection and observation of wastewater treatment, water treatment and heavy civil construction projects. The primary project location will be in x but other project locations in and around Georgia region are also possible.
This position will be responsible for observing, inspecting, and documenting construction activities and will be under the supervision of the Project Engineer or Manager assigned to a specific project. This position will assist the Project Engineers and Project Managers as needed to ensure that the project is built in accordance with project plans and specifications under which the contract was awarded. The candidate selected for this position will report directly to Garver’s on-site Project Engineer or Manager of the project(s).
Primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Acting as the agent of the Owner to ensure that the installation of the work meets or exceeds the plans and specifications
- Interacting with staff, contractors, the public, and others encountered in the course of work
- Regular use of written and oral communication skills
- Reading and interpreting data, information, and documents
- Analyzing and solving problems
- Observing and interpreting situations on construction job sites
- Performing highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks
- Working under intensive deadlines
- Working with the Contractor to facilitate production and to actively engage in problem solutions when problems do present on the project site
- Reviewing quantities in pay applications on a monthly basis to ensure that the Contractor is billing accurately
Applicants must be capable of considerable physical activity in an outdoor setting including but not limited to light lifting, bending, stooping and climbing, walking and standing for prolonged periods of time, and regularly operating motorized vehicles. All applicants must consent to a background check, drug screen, motor vehicle report as a requirement of employment.
Requirements:
- 10 or more years of experience in construction inspections, surveying or materials testing and inspection
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer and electronic filing of documents using Site Manager
- Valid GA (Or other State) Driver’s License
Preferred Skills:
- Prior heavy civil, wastewater or water treatment experience (whether as a contractor or as an inspector/Owner’s agent)
- Surveying or materials testing and inspection experience
- Coursework in Construction Management
- Certified Concrete Technician (ACI Certification)
- OSHA 10/30 certifications and other industry specific training and/or certifications
- Traffic Control/Safety training
- Other testing and inspection certifications
