Garver is seeking a highly-motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer in our St. Louis, MO office to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 5-10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and strong passion for the profession. The position will offer the candidate an opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills with a commitment to becoming a key member of this highly productive design team. This position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement to the right individual.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Performing traffic and safety studies
- Performing traffic simulation and level of service analysis
- Developing access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
- Developing traffic signal timing plans
- Preparing summary documentation and reports
- Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients
Additional duties include:
- Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progress.
- Maintaining a client-focused, service attitude by tracking budgets, and keeping projects on schedule.
- Preparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuits
- Performing direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients within our service area
- Mentoring less experienced staff
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree for an ABET accredited engineering program
- 5 - 10 years of experience with traffic specific projects
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or have ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual & Trip Generation Manual is required
- Working knowledge in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM) is required
- Working knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS is required
- Experience in analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in civil engineering
- Experience in Transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
- Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis including review of large sets of crash data to spatial map and analyze for trends and clusters.
- Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
- Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
- Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
- Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
