Garver is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Engineer to join our growing team in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We are looking for high achievers looking to grow and develop their career with us through our technical and professional development programs and diverse career opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and assisting in the engineering design associated with highway and roadway plans including horizontal and vertical geometry, OpenRoads 3D modeling, quantity calculations, miscellaneous details, and final plan deliverables.
- Managing task assignments for younger engineers ensuring quality and schedules are being met.
- Coordination with Sub-consultants.
- Project/task scheduling
- Plan production oversight.
Technical experience should include:
- Geometric design for roadways/highways.
- Typical sections.
- Drainage design.
- Retaining wall layouts.
- Construction sequencing and traffic control.
- Utility relocation coordination.
- Signing and Striping plans.
- Erosion Control plans.
- Utilizing Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads programs to deliver final plans cross sections and 3D models.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Registered Professional Engineer, Texas preferred, must be able to obtain Texas PE within 6 months of employment.
- 5-10 years of relevant Roadway experience (TxDOT preferred).
- Practical working knowledge of the TxDOT Roadway Design Manual and the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) as well as other TxDOT Design manuals and processes.
- Strong working knowledge of MicroStation (Geopak, OpenRoads, OpenRoads Designer).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous roadway design experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on TxDOT (or other DOT) of Municipal transportation projects.
- Desire to develop and mentor younger engineers.
- Ability to design a TxDOT project from beginning to end without a lot of supervisor input.
- 3D Design experience.
