As a part of the Water Design Center for Garver, the I&C Engineer/Designer will be responsible for developing power distribution, instrumentation, control schematics, and SCADA designs in support of various Water Services projects company-wide. Diversity in high-volume, custom plant projects will allow this engineer the opportunity to be hands-on with design, directly involved with clients, provide mentorship to team members and actively participate in marketing initiatives.
General responsibilities will include electrical and I&C support as required for a variety of water and wastewater projects, but the majority of the expected assignments will be related to developing instrumentation, control, and SCADA network designs for new water and wastewater treatments plants or improvements to existing water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Day to day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and design comprehensive P&IDs for water and wastewater projects.
- Create and optimize pump starter and VFD control schematics to ensure efficient system performance.
- Design and configure robust PLC and SCADA networks tailored to project requirements.
- Select and specify appropriate instrumentation, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Prepare comprehensive project specifications for all I&C and SCADA-related elements.
- Review contractor submittals and promptly respond to requests for information (RFIs) during the construction phase.
- Attend site visits and actively participate in client workshops to ensure project alignment with client expectations.
- Oversee construction startups and develop comprehensive punchlists for all I&C items.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, taking the lead on I&C and SCADA components of the design.
- Preparing design calculations, coordinating with other support discipline activities on projects, coordinating with regional Garver offices and regulating agencies, construction cost estimating, and quality assurance and control.
- Assisting the I&C Team Leader in coordinating schedules, managing multiple assignments concurrently, and ensuring delivery of quality work products which adhere to Garver standards.
Some travel may be required as projects may require field work for site assessment of project locations and support during construction.
