We seek an experienced and highly skilled Stormwater Practice Lead to join our Kansas/Missouri Water Team. As the Team Leader, you will oversee and manage a team of civil engineers focused on stormwater related infrastructure projects. You will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and implementing stormwater infrastructure, ensuring compliance with stormwater runoff and water quality regulations and best practices. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in stormwater modeling, with expertise in municipal stormwater management practices, and leadership abilities to effectively guide and mentor team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain client relationships for municipal/urban stormwater, master planning, green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) and other related drainage projects.
- Acquire leads and identify new market opportunities.
- Lead proposal preparation and participate in project interviews.
- Manage and coordinates project teams for stormwater-related projects.
- Supervise and review Project Managers and support staff.
- Provide day-to-day technical and project management oversight and mentoring.
- Ensure high-quality design and production.
- Utilize engineering software and tools (such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Stormwater Modeling) to create and oversee detailed project designs and specifications.
- Conduct monthly project tracking and workload projections.
- Identify staffing needs and develop project work plans.
- Communicate effectively with clients, field personnel, and office staff.
- Maintain technical competency and stay updated on industry regulations and trends.
- Knowledge of MS4 permitting and compliance practices.
- Participate in professional organizations to increase firm visibility and establish a network.
- Foster trust and unity within the project team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with progressive stormwater design project experience, including project management
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).
- Experience with stormwater modeling programs such as Stormwise (formerly ICPR), SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), Autodesk SSA, etc.
- Proven experience in stormwater management and related infrastructure projects including GSI.
- Strong technical knowledge of stormwater design principles and best practices.
- Solid understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and permitting processes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to win and complete work as a project manager.
- Municipal stormwater experience.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
