As part of the Water Design Center, Garver is seeking an Automation Team Leader in Oklahoma City, OK to oversee the design and implementation of automated control systems.
This role leads development of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs. Supervises automation team in programming PLC and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) HMI applications and provides general I&C (Instrumentation and Control) and automation support for a variety of water and wastewater projects.
Essential Functions
- Provides administrative management for the automation team.
- Provides technical expertise to develop and mentor members of the automation team.
- Executes automation projects efficiently and effectively within project constraints of contracted scope, budget, and schedule.
- Develops and implements automation applications including PLC programming logic and SCADA HMI graphic screens for automation of water and wastewater treatment control systems.
- Works closely with contractors, plant operators, engineers, and other stakeholders to make sure control system design and implementation meet project requirements.
- Prepares scope of work and level of effort estimated for contract proposals
- Proficient at the delivery of planning, design, bidding, and construction administration phases of automation projects
- Develop, capture, and maintain workload for the team throughout Oklahoma, by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients
- Develop and maintain a healthy network of clients throughout Oklahoma
Education, Experience, and License Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, 10 or more years of experience in automation, instrumentation and controls, or a related field is acceptable.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Oklahoma or ability to gain reciprocity within 6 months of hire is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep understanding of process controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems.
- Extensive knowledge of control systems designs and automation software platforms.
- Skilled in providing automation technical support for high-volume, custom plant projects.
- Skilled in leadership, communication, and teamwork.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong work ethic and effective communication skills
- Ability to read and understand construction documents and plans.
- Ability to adapt to and manage competing work demands.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with deadlines.
- Experience with state and or national conference technical presentations on water/wastewater treatment automation topics
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in an office setting. Some travel is required, as projects will require field work for site assessment of project locations and control system implementation during construction. Physical demands include the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech to communicate in-person and on the phone, and visual acuity to read printed materials and screens.
