As a member of Garver’s growing Harlingen Water Infrastructure Design Center, the CAD Production Technician will be responsible for developing, annotating, and detailing 3D models for Garver’s Water Infrastructure Design Center. The Production Technician will collaborate with designers and other technicians to produce drawings on various Water Business Line (WBL) projects.
This role in the Water Infrastructure Design Center is one that is central to project delivery through our many offices and utilizes the latest design software/technologies, predominantly Revit, Civil3D, and MicroStation software. Typical projects in design include civil, process mechanical, structural, building mechanical, and architectural designs for water and wastewater facilities.
Primary responsibilities of the Production Technician will include:
- Annotating & detailing existing 3D models under the oversight of the Production Designer
- Creating plans, profiles, sections, and details in a project specific software
- Working as a team player with a group of technicians and designers, of various levels and disciplines (civil, process, structural, mechanical, electrical etc.) and working with project leaders and design teams to execute projects
- Arranging necessary resources for file sharing and communication to effectively share design files across the company or with clients, sub consultants, and contractors
- Maintaining strong communication with design team members to ensure timely delivery of projects and avoid any potential project conflicts
- Coordination of survey services and processing field data
- Creating and organizing project setup dwgs, base files, general sheets, title blocks, and Plex-Earth
- Organizing drawing structures and files
- Quality program compliance, including QA/QC to ensure all projects adhere to company CAD/BIM/MicroStation standards

The Water Infrastructure Design Center is a knowledge-based hub that excels in highly technical, multi-discipline water and wastewater designs for locations all across Garver’s footprint. The WIDC was created to bring together every unique discipline necessary to design custom solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure facilities, including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, construction, applications, and operations. Requirements:
- Computer aided drafting and design software training and/or experience with Civil3D, Revit, and/or MicroStation
- Experience using MSOffice products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with site development including grading, paving, drainage, and piping
- Experience with water/wastewater, architectural, industrial, or commercial designs
- General understanding of various building types
- Experience with multi-discipline CAD designs (i.e. piping, structural, electrical, I&C, controls, mechanical, HVAC, process)
- Experience with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience using ArcMap
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Associate’s degree or higher with a focus on Civil3D, Revit, or MicroStation
