Implementable Plans

Client feedback regularly reveals that people typically choose to work with Garver because of our commitment to quality, our ability to adopt their vision, and because we're a multi-disciplined firm, offering a full range of services under one roof. With the formation of our new Urban Planning Team, that's even more true.

Garver's approach to urban planning values innovation while using time-tested planning principles to make plans that are implementable. Because we understand buy-in from community members and elected officials is fundamentally essential to implementing any plan, stakeholder engagement is critical to every project. This kind of meaningful stakeholder engagement helps build a shared vision and creates advocates for a long-term commitment to the project.

Garver also understands that in a time of rapid change, budget constraints, and performance measures, planning projects must inspire while providing real results. This means focusing on implementation and integration with the ongoing work of the city's planning department.

"We understand the realities of day-to-day work in a city planning department and the difficult decisions planning commissioners often face," said Urban Planning Manager James Walden. "We use this foundation to help create plans and regulations that are workable, realistic, and legally defensible."

Garver's Urban Planning Team Members have provided urban planning services to more than 50 cities and have experience in a wide range of planning projects covering: comprehensive planning, downtown planning and design guidelines, recreation planning, bike and pedestrian planning, transportation planning, land use regulations, and ongoing consultation and development review for cities.
