Bentonville WWTP Solids Improvements

Evaluating disposal alternatives for future improvements

Garver partnered with the City of Bentonville, Arkansas to complete a Biosolids Master Plan that evaluated the current solids handling process and identified future improvements and disposal alternatives. The master plan recommended replacement of the current dewatering equipment as an immediate need due to age and condition of the existing belt filter press. In addition, identifying the preferred disposal option was a key, as the required dewatered solids characteristics drove technology selection for the new dewatering equipment.

Additionally, Garver performed a detailed evaluation of various dewatering technologies, which included pilot testing alternative technologies. The improvements primarily consisted of the removal and replacement of the existing belt filter press with a new screw press. The project also had an accelerated construction timeline because the plant only had enough sludge storage for one month, which required improvements to be completed in that timeframe.
