Mach named to ENR Texas & Louisiana’s Top Young Professionals

Mach

As Garver’s Oklahoma Water Team Leader, Mary Elizabeth Mach, PE partners with communities to achieve the ultimate goal of protecting our most precious natural resource – clean, safe water.

Mach’s impact on both the water industry and her home of Norman, Oklahoma has landed her on ENR Texas and Louisiana’s 2021 Top Young Professionals list. The annual list celebrates up-and-comers who showcase a commitment to serving the AEC industry and their local communities. Twenty finalists were selected from across the region and from a multitude of industry sectors for their demonstrated leadership, success in their profession, and philanthropic efforts.

“I’m grateful to work in a field that is centered around creating safe, reliable water sources for communities in need. Each day is a new challenge, but being able to serve communities in this way is continuously fulfilling,” Mach told the magazine.

Mach has been at the forefront of many Garver Water initiatives, including leading teams that evaluate the effectiveness of technologies in the removal of constituents from groundwater and utilizing new technologies for drinking water in Oklahoma. She also played a major role in developing the state’s first arsenic-removal technology implementation, and through her leadership, Garver helped the City of Norman secure a $700,000 U.S. Bureau of Reclamation grant to fund a pilot water reuse study – one of only four awarded nationwide.

Her dedication to her community doesn’t stop at water infrastructure. Through GarverGives, Mach began a program to support Food and Shelter, a Norman-based homeless shelter, and coordinates picking up donated food from restaurants and grocery stores to be delivered weekly. She also continues to serve both of her alma maters as a member of the Oklahoma State University Biosystems Advisory Board and through her involvement in Suit Up, a University of Oklahoma event that helps students purchase professional attired for job interviews.
