Gonzalez to lead Garver’s sustainability services
Since the beginning, Garver has placed a premium on sustainability. Recently, however, that premium has gained a larger emphasis with the addition of Sustainability Lead Monica Gonzalez, LEED AP BD+C, O+ M, ID+C, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador.
Reducing utility and operations and maintenance costs for building owners and operators has always been a part of Garver-led projects, but now the company serves as a one-stop shop for engineering, architectural, and sustainability services. Backed by more than a decade of experience, Gonzalez will lead Garver’s efforts in enhancing the company’s commitment to sustainability services that optimize quality of life.
“Our comprehensive sustainability services will support clients across all sectors and disciplines in developing designs and operational practices to reach their sustainability goals and achieve desired certifications,” Gonzalez said. “More than anything, we want to help them enhance their communities through built environments that are comfortable, safe, and productive.”
Although the work of sustainability ranges broadly in scope – LEED and Guiding Principles consulting to commissioning, energy modeling, life cycle cost analysis, daylight analysis, indoor air quality testing, and even health and wellness solutions for both new construction and existing buildings – Gonzalez’s work not only has the tenets of sustainable design and operations at its core, but offers an internal resource to help the rest of Garver build expertise and grow as a company.
“As sustainability services become more and more of an emphasis during design, having these services available under one roof will only streamline this process and make it more efficient for building owners and operators,” said Garver Director of Facilities Design John Watkins, PE. “Monica’s experience in sustainability consulting provides a long-sought benefit to both Garver and our clients.”
In addition to working closely with engineers and architects across the company to maximize energy and water system efficiency, optimize air quality, and incorporate sustainable materials, Gonzalez plans to expand these services as they evolve.
