Three from Garver up for Empowering Women in Industry awards

Three from Garver’s Water Team are up for Empowering Women in Industry Awards, which will be announced during a conference designed to recognize the achievements of women within technical industry professions.

Garver Water Project Manager Beatriz Dongell was nominated for the Mentor of the Year award, Arizona Water Business Team Leader Andrea Odegard-Begay was nominated for the Engineer of the Year award, and Texas Water Business Planning Manager Heather Wootton, was nominated for Marketer of the Year and Leadership in STEM awards. The winners will be announced during Empowering Women in Industry’s conference and awards gala on Sept. 26 in Chicago

Dongell, based in Garver’s Frisco, Texas office, has spent more than a decade assisting clients throughout Texas with the design and construction management of pump station and conveyance projects to help deliver clean drinking water to our communities.

Odegard-Begay, based in Garver’s Phoenix office, has touched every phase of the water cycle over her two-decade career, while developing sustainable design alternatives and promoting water conservation efforts. Given the correlation between growing communities and rising water demands, Odegard-Begay has made the protection of sensitive water bodies a focus. Her work has also included water treatment, reuse, biosolids, and wastewater treatment.

From Garver’s Frisco office, Wootton overseas the execution of strategic business plans for Garver’s Texas Water Region and is responsible for business planning and training for Garver’s engineers. Her passion for the industry leads to volunteering through professional organizations such as the Water Environment Association of Texas and the Society for Marketing Professional Services. In each of the last four years, Wootton has led a team of Garver professionals in partnering with the Frisco Independent School District’s Project Lead the Way program, training students on the engineering design process and real-world applications.
