Dissolved Air Flotation for Low NTU Source Waters

PRESENTER: Rick Huggins, PE, Ph.D., Senior Project Manager

Many drinking water providers are developing alternate surface water supplies to meet the challenges of climate change and population growth. But new sources may contribute higher organic loading to your water treatment plant which can mean filtration challenges, tastes and odors, cyanotoxins, or higher raw water TOCs. This presentation discusses the benefits and basic design principles of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), a tried and true separation process that can yield benefits compared to conventional sedimentation at surface water treatment plants.
