Garver values the insights and preferences of those who will utilize its designs most, which is why we consider stakeholder engagement one of the most critical aspects of any urban planning project.
Promoting community involvement is essential when developing downtown plans, comprehensive plans, strategic plans, zoning and subdivision regulations, design guidelines, and recreation master planning for bike and pedestrian plans, neighborhood revitalization plans, land-use analysis studies, and annexation analysis.
Transportation corridors are a primary way people interact with communities on a daily basis. Planning affecting transportation and land use along corridors is often disconnected and disjointed. Garver uses a multidisciplinary approach that is implementation driven focused on corridor planning. This allows us to break past siloed decision making to effect real and positive change for community stakeholders.
Garver provides on-going staffing assistance to cities and counties. We work side-by-side with planning staff seamlessly to handle any number of planning department functions. This often includes assistance with development review, using our staff to review plats, site plans, rezonings, etc. for compliance with codes and plans. We additionally, frequently work to provide ongoing maintenance of codes and plans by providing updates and mapping assistance.
Comprehensive plans go beyond physical planning to focus on community success. We believe in drafting comprehensive plans that are realistic, legally defensible, and outcome focused. We shape our plans around the idea that the most important part of the planning process is implementation.
Garver’s experience provides a unique perspective on land use regulations. We know the challenges to staff and the community that new land use regulations can present. We use the right regulatory tool to address community issues in a way that is fair, effective, efficient, and simple as possible.
Within each community, there are areas that are unique, challenged, or cherished that warrant special study. Garver’s approach focuses on in-depth, detailed study of the neighborhood or area to develop a complete strategy for creating or sustaining its success.
