Sallee named a “Making a Difference” honoree
A transportation engineering expert and admirable industry leader, Sallee has helped shape the landscape of Oklahoma through vital infrastructure designs.
Oklahoma business publication The Journal Record selected 50 outstanding women for this year’s Woman of the Year awards program, and Garver Oklahoma Roadway Leader Jenny Sallee, PE, is among them.
The Woman of the Year program is in its 43rd year and recognizes Oklahoma’s prominent women who epitomize leadership in both their professional endeavors and in the communities where they live.
A transportation engineering expert and admirable industry leader, Sallee has spent the better part of three decades shaping the landscape of Oklahoma communities through vital transportation infrastructure design.
“It’s such an honor to be included in this accomplished group of women,” said Sallee. “I was drawn to transportation engineering because it offered a way to serve my community and enrich people’s daily lives. And as a woman in a male-dominated field, I’m grateful for the women and men who championed and supported me along the way.”
In her role at Garver, Sallee partners with state entities, including the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, in bringing to life the transportation infrastructure that allows communities across the state to thrive. Sallee has had a hand in the design of significant projects that Oklahomans rely on every day – including the I-40 & I-35/I-235 Interchange in Oklahoma City and a 20-mile corridor study and construction plans for the Turner Turnpike widening near Kellyville.
“Jenny’s expertise and leadership has been an immense asset to our firm, and she’s been tasked to lead a team of 15 – and growing! – engineers in designing these vital transportation projects,” said Garver Director of Transportation Brent Schniers, PE.
Through both her impressive resume and her involvement in mentoring young engineers through the Oklahoma chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar and Garver, Sallee is championing women in transportation and working toward a more inclusive and diverse industry. In addition, she serves on the board of the American Council of Engineering Companies and the Oklahoma State University Civil Engineering Department Advisory Board.
Sallee’s immense impact on Garver, Oklahoma infrastructure, and the engineering industry was recognized in her being named a Spirit of Garver recipient in 2012 and being invited to join Garver’s ownership group in 2015. The Spirit of Garver Award is the firm’s highest employee honor, given to those who exemplify the respect, excellence, and integrity Garver is known for. And because she is known inside Garver for her leadership and mentorship skills, she has guided numerous Spirit of Garver recipients and finalists. These two honors are reserved for those uniquely committed to Garver’s mission of supplying infrastructure solutions to the communities we serve.
Sallee has made a monumental impact on Garver – and on the state of Oklahoma – that will be present for decades to come.
