Kurtis John named a C-Suite Award Winner

The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal has named Garver’s General Counsel Kurtis John to its 2024 C-Suite Awards class. Along with nine other senior-level executives from across the region, John is being recognized for his contribution to Garver’s success, civic involvement, and professional achievement.

Over the course of his career, John has been involved with billions of dollars of private and public infrastructure related contracts. Though much of his work is behind the scenes, John helps support those who bring to life the critical and complex infrastructure that Northwest Arkansas, and communities across the country, rely on.

As Garver’s General Counsel, John touches nearly every aspect of the company — from strategic planning to employee relations. He provides overall vision, direction, and collaborative leadership of the company’s legal initiatives and has played a pivotal role in updating, revising, and developing policies and procedures to minimize risk and maximize results during Garver’s rapid growth. Not only does John provide companywide legal advisory, but he also manages the legal group that serves Garver’s needs in contract reviews and negotiations, insurance analysis and procurement, and dispute resolution.

Outside of his role as General Counsel, John serves in many additional roles within Garver. Perhaps most notably, he leads the firm’s real estate team in procuring new office locations and managing Garver’s current portfolio of over 50 offices in 19 states. He has also been named Chairman of the Board for the firm’s Captive Insurance Company and is responsible for the committee’s strategic direction. Additionally, he leads the firm’s Risk Management Committee and is a dedicated member of the firm’s Government Relations Committee, Emergency Response Team, and Strategic Planning Group, which leads the firm’s overall growth initiatives.

John's impact on the landscape of Northwest Arkansas extends beyond his work in the legal realm. Committed to furthering Garver’s mission of promoting STEM education, he regularly volunteers with local schools through GarverGives, the firm’s corporate giving program. John also serves on the board for Lighthouse Recovery NWA, a charitable initiative that supports individuals facing addiction.
