Niblett named to Oklahoma NextGen Under 30 list
From working to protect the state’s water supply to investing in the next generation of STEM professionals, Garver’s Oklahoma Water Team Leader Cole Niblett, PE, is committed to securing a better future for Oklahomans.
A proud Oklahoma native and both OSU and OU alum, he’s already made major waves in the water industry and worked on flagship projects that will positively affect the state for decades to come. This dedication to his community and passion for his profession are just part of the reason Niblett was recently honored as a NextGen Under 30 award winner. Selected annually, the award recognizes innovative, creative, and inspiring young individuals.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition and to serve the people of this state through creating and maintaining the infrastructure they rely on every day,” said Niblett. “I take seriously the role I have in building up and giving back to the communities that helped me thrive.”
Over his eight years at Garver, Niblett rapidly advanced from a project engineer to the Oklahoma Water Team Leader, leading a team of 13 engineering experts. As a licensed wastewater operator through ODEQ, he also understands firsthand the challenges operators face, which make his infrastructure plans and advice highly sought after within the industry.
Notable projects he’s worked on include the water and wastewater master plan for the City of Norman, improvements to the Lawton Water and Wastewater Treatment plant, the Tulsa Metropolitan Utility Authority’s Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements, and various initiatives with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
Additionally, Niblett worked on high-profile infrastructure projects such as the Lake Thunderbird Pilot Study, the Norman Water Reclamation Facility expansion and improvements, and the Del City Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements. These projects are career highlights that exemplify his commitment to enhancing water quality and availability in the state.
Niblett’s dedication to the industry and service extends beyond office hours. He actively participates in multiple professional organizations and serves as the awards committee chair for the Oklahoma Water Environment Association. Niblett also participates in volunteering opportunities focused on STEM education outreach.
