Frank featured in Airport Improvement for Brownsville South Padre Island International Terminal project
Garver’s Texas Aviation experts were recently called on to help turn the design plans for a new, 91,000 square-foot terminal for Brownsville South Padre Island International into a reality.
The new terminal, which was featured in an article in Airport Improvement, opened to the public in January. The facility touts inventive new features including gates which can accommodate multiple aircraft and designs that allow for future expansion and upgrades, including the TSA checkpoint which will easily adapt to future security updates.
Garver provided construction administration and management services for the new terminal, which included the aircraft apron, loop road, and parking areas, and also worked with the City on a transition plan to minimize operational impacts.
“It was a fast-tracked project, so were able to serve as another set of eyes and to help with changes that came up during construction,” Garver Houston Aviation Leader Jason Frank, PE told Airport Improvements.
The project team brought to life a two-story terminal with an innovative check-in area with self-serve, interactive kiosks, expanded Wi-Fi coverage, and additional amenities to help the airport better serve its passengers.
The final phases of the project – demolishing the old terminal building and installing the new apron and boarding bridges – is scheduled for completion in spring of 2021.
