Callies named to Oklahoma Magazine’s 40 Under 40

Bryce Callies, PE, Oklahoma Water Resources Team Leader, has been named one of Oklahoma Magazine’s 40 Under 40 — an honor that recognizes emerging leaders making a meaningful impact across the state.

At just 37 years old, Callies has already built a career defined by technical excellence, innovation, service, and mentorship, helping shape Oklahoma’s water infrastructure and the next generation of engineers.

Based in Oklahoma City, Callies has spent more than 12 years serving the state, dedicating his career to protecting and strengthening one of its most critical resources: clean, reliable water. In his role at Garver, Callies leads the design and implementation of vital water and wastewater infrastructure projects that support Oklahoma communities, utilities, and industries.

“Water impacts every part of our daily lives — from public health to economic growth,” Callies said. “I’m honored to be recognized, but this award really reflects the incredible teams, clients, and communities I’ve had the chance to work alongside throughout my career.”

Callies’ work spans a wide range of complex challenges, including master planning for water systems, aquifer studies, water and wastewater treatment solutions, stormwater projects, and much more for the local water utilities that Oklahomans rely on every day.

Known among colleagues and clients for his creative, “out-of-the-box” problem solving, Callies brings a forward-thinking approach to every project. He has contributed to some of the region’s most impactful water initiatives, including stormwater master planning and alternative water supply solutions; infrastructure improvements such as high-maintenance water and wastewater lines for Lawton, Oklahoma and water tower projects for Okeene and Midwest City, Oklahoma; reverse osmosis and ultraviolet treatment projects; and the development of practical, innovative strategies to address evolving water and wastewater industry challenges.

Callies’ impact reaches well beyond project work. He is a dedicated industry advocate and leader, currently serving as Chair of the Oklahoma Chapter of American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) Water and Environment Committee and Government Relations Chair of the Oklahoma Water Environment Association. Through these roles, he champions water infrastructure investment, regulatory progress, and professional collaboration at both the state and national levels.

Recognizing the importance of building a strong pipeline of future engineers, Callies is also involved in mentorship and workforce development. He has supported Garver Launch, the firm’s award-winning internship program, and works with young professionals to help them grow as leaders in the water industry.

“Bryce’s impact goes beyond his technical expertise,” said West Region Water Director Mary Elizabeth Mach, PE. “He is a natural leader who brings curiosity and integrity to everything he does. Whether he’s mentoring young engineers, leading complex projects, or advocating for water resources statewide, Bryce consistently elevates our teams and our clients.”

Callies also supports Garver’s broader community engagement efforts. He has helped advocate for and support organizations such as the Lake Thunderbird Watershed Alliance, which works to protect water quality and water quantity for Lake Thunderbird, and Lawton Public Schools’ Makerspace Summer Camp, a STEM-focused program for elementary students that combines hands-on learning with fun, engaging instruction.

Being named to Oklahoma Magazine’s 40 Under 40 reflects Callies’ unwavering commitment to Oklahoma’s communities, water resources, and future generations.
