Garver presents on uniqueness of 30 Crossing project
As the Arkansas Department of Transportation continues to move forward with its first design-build project, Garver employees involved with the project recently discussed its unique aspects at the Kansas American Public Works Association Spring Conference in Dodge City, Kansas.
Roadway Team Leader John Cantabery and Senior Project Manager Jennifer Russell presented an overview of the 30 Crossing project. This project, currently in the NEPA phase, revolves around a 7-mile stretch of interstate through the downtowns of Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas. Anticipated project aspects include an Arkansas River bridge replacement, capacity improvements, interchange improvements, and ramp modifications.
Serving as the 30 Crossing project manager for ARDOT, Garver has been involved in the project throughout the Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) phase and now the NEPA phase. As a design-build project, a single contractor will then perform both the design and construction of 30 Crossing at the same time to ultimately delivery the project faster and more efficiently.
"This delivery method was selected because 30 Crossing's scope is large and complex, environmental activities are underway, innovation is desired, and the project delivery schedule is a critical issue," Cantabery said.
