Garver Launch interns gather for Ignite 2023
One part of Garver’s celebrated culture is its comprehensive internship program, Garver Launch, that helps students grow both professionally and personally. Interns are introduced to Garver’s culture and gain significant opportunities to contribute to the industry and their communities.
Ninety-four Garver Launch interns from 28 offices across Garver's footprint recently gathered in Frisco, Texas, for Ignite 2023. Ignite is a two-day orientation event that introduces the latest class of interns to Garver’s history, signature projects, and various career paths while they bond over fun activities. The students were invited to connect directly with company leadership, visit job sites, network, and socialize.
During the event, interns heard from Garver President and CEO Brock Hoskins, COO Michael Graves, and Director of Water Services Jeff Sober about what sets Garver apart, and how to make the most of their internships. Representatives from several of Garver's business lines, including Transportation, Aviation, Water, Buildings, Construction, and Corporate Support, gave presentations and provided opportunities for discussion.
Interns also enjoyed activities like yoga with Wellness Program Manager Whitney Gorsegner, a tour of the McKinney National Airport facility, and a night out playing pickleball and having dinner. “Ignite showed Garver's willingness to invest in us,” said Communications intern Elizabeth Abati.
For this year’s Garver Launch program, 115 students from 47 different colleges and universities are working alongside Garver’s full-time talent to see how their classroom learning relates to the real built environment.
Garver is committed to investing in its employees, and Garver Launch interns become part of a culture that values employee experience as much as service to clients.
