Garver event aids Tulsa blood collector, cancer foundation
Employees in Garver’s Tulsa, Oklahoma office have joined in the fight against pediatric cancer following a recent event that contributed to a local blood collector and a charity dedicated to helping children and their families fight the disease.
A blood drive led by the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) at Garver’s Tulsa office included 31 donations, 24 of which came from first-time donors. OBI collects blood from more than 125,000 donors each year, benefiting patients at more than 160 medical facilities across the state. In addition, GarverGives presented Gold4Kids Cancer Foundation of Tulsa a check for $3,300 raised from employee donations and raffles held during the event.
“I’m proud to work with so many generous colleagues who thought it beneficial to help two very crucial organizations,” said Project Manager Matthew Youngblood, who organized the event for Garver. “We don’t just work in these communities, we’re a part of them in every way, so we were pleased to provide aid toward these programs and missions.”
The Tulsa-based Gold4Kids organization is dedicated to helping children and their families fight cancer by raising funds for a local pediatric oncology clinic, as well as the Children’s Oncology Group. Gold4Kids events have benefited local projects that focus on palliative care, symptom management, and psychological education. Garver will also participate in the Gold4Kids Walk & 5K, one of the organization’s largest fundraising events that draws thousands of participants.
