Rogers Water Utilities Solids Handling Facility

Rogers Water Utilities will see the benefits of Garver’s design upgrades to its Solids Handling Facility much sooner through the use of a Construction Management At-Risk (CMAR) delivery method than if delivered by traditional methods.

In one of the first CMAR projects executed in Arkansas, Garver collaborated with the contractor during the design process to accelerate the project timeline. At 60 percent design, the contractor developed a guaranteed maximum price of $7.8 million, which has been approved by RWU, allowing it to order long lead-time equipment to reduce construction time.

“Typically, this project would take up to 15 months from design to the start of construction,” said Arkansas Water Team Leader Joe Dollerschell. “CMAR has allowed us to cut that to nine months, saving RWU valuable time and money.”

While considering the area’s rapid growth, Garver’s design focused on the safety of operations staff, a more flexible solids drying, conveying, handling, and storage option, as well as increased efficiency.

Phase 1 improvements will include a new tubular drag conveyance system for easy movement and storage of Class A dried biosolids, a bulk material storage silo, an access road, lab space, and a control room for employees to safely monitor operations.
