Garver provided design and construction phase services to modify the existing profile while reconstructing the runway and bringing the safety area into FAA compliance. The project included pulverizing and recycling the existing pavement section for use as a cement stabilized base course, which saved project dollars and construction time. A new, five-inch thick asphalt section was then constructed and remarked. The project also included the removal of two older, noncompliant connector taxiways and replacing them with a new, strategically located connector. The project was completed under a tight, 90-day period and successfully reopened in time for a local annual event responsible for a significant amount of tourism and revenue for the community.
