EO1 Runway Reconstruction

Innovative reclamation methods

To help solve large transverse cracking in the asphalt surface, Garver implemented Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) of Runway 12-30 at Roy Hurd Memorial Airport, making it the second FDR runway in the state of Texas. On this project, FDR blended 8 inches of base and existing asphalt surface, and new asphalt overlay of 3 inches of FDR material. These improvements corrected the runway profile and addressed all large cracking. In addition, Garver’s planned construction phasing and stakeholder coordination helped minimize runway closure as the project was delivered on time and under budget.
