Future Highway 412 Bypass

Opening East/West Access

Citizens in northwest Arkansas, one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, now have access to an east/west oriented freeway to meet their increased traveling needs. To join the Garver-designed north/south Interstate 49, the east/west Future 412 Bypass is a four-mile controlled access facility north of Springdale, Arkansas that connects State Highway 112 with Interstate 49. The design, which was conducted for expansion to accommodate future growth, included overpasses at Highway 112, Grimsley Road, Zion Road, and Spring Street; as well as main lane, dual bridges over Spring Creek and Wagon Wheel Road. Part of the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s Connecting Arkansas Program, design considerations were made for the terrain, considering the road travels near the base of the Ozark Mountains and a large quarry.

This roadway has been a long time coming for this area. It improves connectivity to I-49, provides safe and efficient movement of traffic within the region, and helps reduce congestion.
