Legacy Drive

Increasing capacity

The City of Frisco, Texas, sought improvements for Legacy Drive, a frequently traveled roadway connecting Frisco and Plano. Focused on the 1 ½-mile stretch between the Sam Rayburn Tollway to the Warren Parkway intersection, Garver provided schematic design options to improve capacity along with pedestrian and vehicular safety. Garver also assisted with bidding and construction phase services. The results? All of the current four-lane roadway was replaced with six lanes. A portion of the southbound lanes were raised to match the northbound lanes, improving site distance. Existing storm sewer, bridge railing, and roadway carrying capacity were upgraded to meet the current design standards. Improvements also included a new right turn lane along State Highway 121, and designs for additional greenspace and coordination of traffic signal replacements between the traffic departments of Frisco and Plano.
