After the City’s former airport site was purchased for future commercial opportunities, the Highway 64 and I-40 interchange became highly susceptible to traffic congestion. To help prevent this from happening, Garver provided engineering services to help improve the traffic flow and enhance access to the new commercial district. These improvements consisted of two four-lane divided boulevards, interstate ramp enhancements, an I-40 overpass with four lanes, and a multi-lane roundabout, taking pedestrians’ safety into account. Although there were several constraints, Garver successfully navigated them and completed this project within 12 months, meeting the requirements of the accelerated schedule.
