The SH-266 corridor in northeast part of Tulsa provides for access to major heavy industry and the western access to the Tulsa Port of Catoosa. The existing highway capacity and safety required improvement to allow for better travel within the area. Garver prepared construction plans for grading, drainage, bridge, surfacing, and traffic control to widen SH-266 in Tulsa County to five lanes.
The design included two new bridge structures – one over Bird Creek and another over Bird Creek Overflow – and a reinforced concrete box structure under SH-266 to enhance mobility northwest of Tulsa that connects industrial, manufacturing, and residential traffic with the growing Tulsa Port of Catoosa. Due to the traffic volume, construction was completed in stages.
