I-44 Widening

Increasing capacity

The western section of I-44 through Tulsa was one of the oldest sections of the highway that has not gone under major improvements. In addition, the existing interchange with US-75 was an older style that included loop ramps and had reached the end of its functional life. Garver was selected to provide services to widen I-44 to six lanes, layout of the final lighting infrastructure, reconstruction of US-75 bridges over I-44 and over Mooser Creek, partial interchange ramp reconstruction, design and layout of the ultimate fly-over interchange ramps including construction of select bridge piers. This was the first construction work package within the corridor; that was brought out of a Preliminary Engineering Study that Garver was the lead on working with the Department. Additionally, Garver assisted ODOT in securing a large Federal Grant to help in the project funding.
