Signal Solutions

Providing safe and efficient traffic flow

Key to Garver's long list of successful traffic projects is the experience and vision provided by our senior engineers. Garver's traffic team determines "big picture" solutions to congestion problems. With more and more cars on the road and decreasing revenues, traffic engineering is vital to maximizing efficient movement through existing intersections.

Our staff observes traffic flow, queuing problems, and traffic signal operation and timing. We use traffic data to determine operational issues and recommend a cost-effective, detailed plan for intersection improvements.

Garver's traffic team has designed more than 200 signalization projects throughout the South and Midwest. Our designs include new and replacement traffic signals, temporary signals and signal modifications. We develop and implement timing plans and determine appropriate signal phasing and vehicle detection systems.

Garver's traffic team includes employees certified as professional traffic operations engineers, professional engineers and Level II International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) traffic signal field electricians. By serving in leadership roles and being involved in industry organizations, the Garver traffic team stays informed of current practices and technologies.

Garver has performed traffic studies for virtually every type of situation—from simple, isolated intersections to roundabouts to complex interchange justification studies involving trip generation and traffic simulation. Our project diversity enables us to work on a variety of traffic-related improvements, including citywide traffic corridor studies, complex maintenance of traffic plans and various intersection modifications.

With a team solely focused on traffic enhancements, we can unite our in-depth knowledge with custom solutions to provide the perfect fit for any intersection.

Intersection Evaluation, Ellisville, Mississippi

To determine ways to alleviate congestion at a four-way stop at MS 29 and MS 588/Hal Crocker Road, Garver investigated various options, including roundabout configurations, signalization with additional turn lanes and roadway realignment.

Signal Design, Various Locations, Arkansas

In our fifth consecutive multi-year contract with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, Garver has designed 142 signals under 85 task orders throughout Arkansas.

Signal Timing Plans, Norman, Oklahoma

Garver evaluated the existing signals and provided new traffic signal timing plans for 14 intersections along 12th Avenue East/Classen Boulevard.

Traffic Study, Huntsville, Alabama

Garver conducted a comprehensive study to determine the roadway configuration and signal operating plan needed to expand a two-lane road to a four-lane divided facility. This included complex traffic projections and simulating a vehicle checkpoint to prepare for future personnel growth at the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal.
