The Union over I-44 project in Tulsa showcased Garver’s ability in collaborating with the project owner and forward thinking in allowing near term improvements to be compatible with future expansion on local infrastructure. On this project, Garver provided preliminary engineering studies, environmental studies and documentation, geotechnical investigations, and final construction plans, for roadway, pedestrian accommodations, bridge and retaining walls, lighting and signal design for this multiphase project.
The client’s goals for this project included improving bridge condition, while providing for the required capacity of Union Avenue, and to consider compatibility with the ultimate build out of I-44 and the reconfiguration of a nearby interchange. By allowing the bridge over I-44 to both facilitate the current traffic configuration and the ultimate configuration allowed for ODOT to more seamlessly begin the reconstruction of the I-44/US-75 Interchange.
