Broken Arrow Adams Creek WW Master Plan

Garver’s master plan will evaluate the feasibility of a new WWTP to support a growing community

With the northeast area of Broken Arrow growing rapidly, the Broken Arrow Municipal Authority (BAMA) needs a solution to support the ever-growing wastewater needs. Eight years ago, BAMA started the process of identifying capital improvement needs through a master plan; however, as time has passed, uncertainty about the next move for the City of Broken Arrow has grown. Today, Garver is building on the previous master plan to identify the optimum path forward for the City’s long-term growth.

To provide BAMA with a clear direction for its infrastructure planning, Garver is evaluating the feasibility of a new WWTP within the Adams Creek sewershed basin and the discharge of treated effluent to Adams Creek. This will be compared to the continued pumping of Adams Creek basin wastewater to the Lynn Lane WWTP, which involves extensive pumping and piping. An important part of the evaluation will be identifying ways to simplify the conveyance system to Lynn Lane WWTP through the elimination of lift stations by way of gravity lines and/or lift station consolidation.

To assist in this evaluation effort, Garver is performing flow monitoring and water quality discharge modeling. The final feasibility report will provide an overview of regulatory and technical concepts, as well as the cost implications associated with these concepts. If a new Adams Creek WWTP is identified as a feasible solution, Garver will also evaluate multiple wastewater treatment technologies and alternatives within that WWTP based on the results of the water quality modeling.
