DFW Reclaimed Water Distribution System
Using hydraulic modeling to optimize design
Garver provided hydrodynamic modeling support during preliminary and final design phases for the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport’s (DFWIA) reclaimed water distribution system. Our team worked with the primary consultant, DFWIA, and other subconsultants, to make preliminary recommendations regarding piping layout and pump sizing that affected subsequent design phases. By modeling the system under dynamic that simulated irrigation cycles and pump runtimes, Garver determined a need for additional pressure zones in the upper reaches of the distribution system, where rising elevations and friction losses caused diminished service pressures in the base model. As the project progressed, Garver was an active participant in further defining these and other recommendations.
