Garver employees prepare 170,000 meals for their communities
Each year, Garver Summit is held to celebrate another successful year while looking ahead to what will be accomplished next. This year, Garver hosted a service project through GarverGives, the firm’s corporate giving program, in three cities as part of its Summit activities. In about two hours, Garver employees packed a total of more than 170,000 meals for local nonprofits in Fort Worth, Kansas City, and Little Rock.
The effort was completed in partnership with The Pack Shack, a nonprofit organization that provides food to people in need and encourages people to get involved with the nonprofits that serve their local communities.
At each location, the participating Garver employees were divided into teams and given specific duties, packing nutritious ingredients into bags for individual meals, then boxing them up for pickup by local nonprofits.
In Fort Worth, meals went to the Presbyterian Night Shelter, the largest provider of services to Tarrant County residents who are experiencing homelessness. In Kansas City, meals were divided among the Veterans Community Project, City Union Mission, and the food pantry at the Eastside Salvation Army. In Little Rock, the Arkansas Foodbank and Immerse Arkansas will distribute the meals to those who need them most, including youth aging out of the foster care system.
"Every community benefits when its residents know one another, understand the challenges they're facing individually and collectively, have compassion, and take action to make a difference,” said Bret Raymond, co-founder and CEO of The Pack Shack. “Garver employees clearly demonstrated these #beneighborly principles at their Feed the Funnel parties to pack meals for their neighbors in need! We're so very grateful for our ongoing partnership with Garver and their commitment to the communities in which they live and work!"
GarverGives provided the funding for the ingredients and other needed supplies to facilitate the effort, enabling Garver to uplift the communities where its employees and clients live and work through charitable contributions and philanthropic activities.
