Helix Aviation Academy helping local students reach new heights

A first-of-its-kind, Helix Aviation Academy is building a career path for Louisiana students.

Located on-site of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, Helix Aviation is focused on preparing students to excel in the limitless world of aviation careers, from aeronautical engineering to cyber technology. Through exposure to a multitude of aviation professionals and unique, hands-on and virtual reality learning, Helix Aviation is uniquely situated to put students on a fast track to a variety of aviation career paths and opportunities.

To help further that mission, the academy has partnered with Southern University, Baton Rouge Community College, and Garver.

What started as engineers from Garver offering industry insight as the school crafted its curriculum, evolved into a long-standing partnership as the firm’s nationally recognized Communications Team provided video production, brand and campaign development, PR strategy, event planning, and more to help promote the new academy and its grand opening event.

“I’ve often said that in order for us to have a progressive, innovative, and creative community, we have to have public-private partnerships," said Baton Rouge Mayor – President Sharon Weston Broome. "This is a perfect example of what a private partnership with Garver will mean to our education community.”

Aviation careers continue to be an essential part of our nation’s infrastructure, and together, the community partners look forward to cultivating a pipeline for students – from the classroom to the runway.

The academy opened its doors to its first class of sixth grade students this fall and looks forward to offering a full K-12 experience in the near future.
