Garver gives back during its Seventh-Inning Stretch

Last week, nearly 1,350 Garver employees traveled to Arlington, TX, for the 16th annual Garver Summit, a one-of-a-kind AEC industry event celebrating the firm's achievements and the people behind its success. As part of the annual gathering, employees traditionally participate in a Friday morning activity led by either GarverGives, the firm’s corporate giving program, or Garver’s Wellness Program. This year, those efforts were combined into a single event, the Seventh-Inning Stretch, benefiting the Texas Ramp Project and ACE Mentor of Dallas Fort Worth.

Garver employees gathered in droves, covering Choctaw Stadium, formerly Globe Life Park, in a wave of red.

Employees participated in a two-mile fun run, walked laps around the field, relaxed with morning yoga sessions, and tested their balance in a dizzy bat challenge. For each activity completed, employees were rewarded with tokens representing a cash donation for the organization of each employee’s choosing. Garver’s Director of Water, Jeff Sober, and Director of Aviation, Frank McIllwain, provided play-by-play coverage of the action, spurring collaboration — and a bit of friendly competition — in the name of giving back.

After running, walking, stretching, and spinning, Garver employees had raised $7,500 in donations for the Texas Ramp Project and an additional $7,500 for ACE Mentor of Dallas Fort Worth. Checks were presented to representatives from each organization, generating immediate community impact in just one hour of activity.

Events like Garver’s Seventh-Inning Stretch forge stronger team bonds, create exciting memories, and strengthen the communities across the firm’s footprint, like north Texas.

The shared investment and collaboration on display at this year's Garver Summit is a key reminder why its been recognized with a Best Firm to Work For award from the Zweig Group for 13 years running.
