Garver welcomes Andy Samberg as North Carolina Aviation Lead

Andy Samberg, PE, has joined Garver as North Carolina Aviation Lead. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the aviation industry, Samberg brings both expertise and vision to this growing market.

Samberg has watched Garver’s presence expand in Florida over the past few years, noting the successes achieved there. While working in Jacksonville during the same period, Garver entered the Florida aviation market, he saw firsthand how Garver operated and even knew the firm as a competitor. “Garver was already starting to be a formidable opponent at that point,” Samberg said. “So, being offered the opportunity to help the firm break into the North Carolina market was interesting to say the least.”

“Andrew’s range of experience and strategic vision make him the ideal leader to establish Garver’s presence in North Carolina,” said Aviation Region Leader Ryan Sisemore, PE. “His understanding of the region’s aviation needs, combined with his commitment to building strong partnerships, will position Garver for long-term success in this dynamic market.”

Originally from northern Minnesota, Samberg graduated from Michigan Technological University and began his career in his hometown of Duluth before moving to Charlotte, where he met his wife. When their son was born, they relocated to Greensboro to be closer to family — a move that placed Samberg in one of North Carolina’s hottest aviation markets, home to Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI).

“Garver encourages an entrepreneurial spirit in its employees,” he said. “It’s a great company — successful, growing quickly but responsibly. Starting something new and making it your own is exciting, especially with the backing of a firm like Garver.”

For Samberg, the decision to join Garver came down to culture and opportunity. “Garver encourages an entrepreneurial spirit in its employees,” he said. “It’s a great company — successful, growing quickly but responsibly. Starting something new and making it your own is exciting, especially with the backing of a firm like Garver.”

Samberg was also drawn to Garver’s award-winning culture and long-term commitment to success. “I liked having the reassurance that it’s not going to be a one- or two-year thing and then they’ll give up. Garver is here for the long haul and to make it work,” he said. “The people I already knew at Garver sold me on the company’s culture. There are good benefits, good people — it seemed like the place to be.”

Looking ahead, Samberg sees tremendous opportunity in North Carolina’s aviation market. The state has experienced rapid population growth since 2021, and airports in cities like Charlotte, Raleigh, and Wilmington are expanding to meet increasing demand. Wilmington, for example, has been the fastest-growing airport in the nation by percentage over a three-year stretch. “They’re pushing projects forward to keep up with new carriers, destinations, and passenger needs,” said Samberg.

Adding to the excitement, Greensboro will soon be home to Jetzero, a new commercial airline manufacturer expected to bring 14,500 jobs to the region. Combined with strong state investment in airport infrastructure and incentives for business development, these factors make North Carolina one of the most dynamic aviation markets in the country.

While breaking into a competitive market presents challenges, Samberg is confident in Garver’s ability to succeed. “It’s going to be challenging to find market share, but once we break in, it will be very successful over the long run,” he said. “The demand is there, and the state is doing a great job supporting growth. Over time, as we form partnerships here, this has the potential to be very, very successful.”
