In earning this designation, Sober joins a select group of engineers from Garver who have also earned their BCEE. These include National Wastewater Practice Leader Sean Scuras, Ph.D., PE, BCEE; Water Practice Leader Zaid Chowdhury, Ph.D., PE, BCEE; Water Technology Director Randy McIntyre, PE, BCEE; and Water Program Manager Joe Dollerschell, PE, BCEE.

“Obtaining this certification is critical to providing further designation of expertise within the broad field of civil and environmental engineering,” Sober said. “I am honored to join a select few, as well grow my skillset, as I remain focused on making positive impacts for communities in which we work.”

Only administered once a year, the certification process involves a credentials review, specialty-specific written and oral examinations, and assessment of work experience, all of which are determined by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers Certification Board (AAEECB).

With 20 years of experience, Sober leads the firm’s efforts in delivering innovative water and wastewater infrastructure solutions across the country. Throughout his career, Sober has focused on large scale facility master planning, wastewater treatment process design, grit removal science, and biosolids. He is a past president of the Water Environment Association of Texas and serves as vice chair on the WEF Operations Challenge Committee.
