Hanson, Marshall nominated for Empowering Women in Industry awards

Two from Garver’s Water Team have been nominated for Empowering Women in Industry Awards, which recognize the most impactful women across the country working in the AEC and other male-dominated industries.

West Texas Water Business Team Leader Tina Hanson, PE, has been nominated for Mentor of the Year, while Central Region Water Business Planning Manager Krysten Marshall is up for Marketer of the Year. The winners will be announced Aug. 1 during Empowering Women 2020 Live, a virtual award ceremony.

Hanson

Hanson, based in Garver’s Fort Worth, Texas office, has dedicated her nearly four-decade career to not only the planning, funding, development, and implementation of the most integral water and wastewater improvements across Texas, but also to encouraging the next generation of engineers. She is an active participant in GarverGives, the firm’s employee-led corporate giving arm. Most recently, she mentored dozens of middle school students through the Garver Chain Reaction Challenge, which involved passing along STEM lessons while celebrating Garver’s centennial year in 2019. She also annually mentors a team of environmental and civil engineering students from Tarleton State University in the Water Environment Association of Texas Student Design Competition. Hanson also formed a local Women in Water networking group which mentors young engineers and water professionals.

Marshall

Marshall, based in Garver’s Norman, Oklahoma office, oversees the business development, marketing, and client communications for Garver’s Central and West Water regions, which include six states. She works daily with technical staff to develop best practices for client communications, business development, and to maintain Garver’s reputation for delivering innovation through diligent customer service.

Empowering Women in Industry was created to connect, educate, and empower women to inspire the next generation of leaders, as well as to provide an outlet to discuss opportunities for and the issues impacting women in a variety of industries.
