Patton named IESALC Chairman
The Illuminating Engineering Society Aviation Lighting Committee (IESALC) has named Garver Electrical Aviation Leader Ryan Patton, PE, LLED AP, its newest chairman. In this new role, which began this month, Patton will continue sharing his expertise to promote and advance the aviation lighting industry.
Patton has served on IESALC’s board since 2019, rotating from Secretary to Vice Chairman to Chairman.
As Chair, Patton will be responsible for the planning and execution of the Fall Technology Meeting, a large annual gathering of the world’s foremost experts in design, maintenance, regulatory guidance, and manufacturing of aviation lighting products. He will also be responsible for the Spring Meeting, a gathering of government contacts subcommittees which brings a smaller cohort of industry experts together to meet at the Federal Aviation Administration’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
"IESALC represents the best opportunity for those in our industry to discuss the issues we face and the implementation of emerging technologies side-by-side with global manufacturers, regulators, owners, and other engineers."

Patton is well aware of the unique strengths of this organization: “IESALC represents the best opportunity for those in our industry to discuss the issues we face and the implementation of emerging technologies side-by-side with global manufacturers, regulators, owners, and other engineers,” he said. “We're able to work together, discussing problems and best practices as a team, to improve the quality of the installed products being used in the field, and the safety of the people installing them.”
A dedicated supporter and partner of IESALC, Garver not only sponsors annual meetings but also sends leaders in the aviation electrical industry to moderate and present at those meetings.
Patton has spent two decades delivering electrical improvements to airports across the country, including the ramp control lighting project at Kansas City International Airport’s new terminal, which won the IESALC 2023 Air Carrier Award for Innovative Ramp Control Lighting.
