Babcock to help build on Garver's structural engineering history
In the 100-plus years since Garver was founded, what began as a one-man firm has expanded to include a multitude of engineering disciplines, including transportation, aviation, water, facilities design, federal, construction, and survey.
It’s worth remembering, however, that before the scores of city streets, highways, bridges, airport runways, parking decks, buildings, and water and wastewater treatment facilities were constructed defining his legacy and shaping the American landscape, Neal Garver, the firm’s founder, was first a structural engineer.
With the addition of Facilities Design Texas Engineering Team Leader and structural engineer, Ian Babcock, PE, Garver is continuing that tradition by expanding its Facilities Design Team into the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and reimagining what Garver can offer to the building projects that help our communities continue to grow.
“For over 100 years, client service has been paramount to Garver, and it continues to be the bedrock of Garver’s success,” Babcock said. “Not only does Garver care deeply about the success of its clients, but it also cares equally for its employees. That client-minded thinking and award-winning culture are what attracted me to Garver. I hope to build on that existing foundation – and make it stronger in the years to come.”
In leading a Dallas-based multi-disciplinary engineering team, Babcock will help Garver strengthen its strong foundation in Texas. For more than 15 years, he’s served as a team leader, structural engineer, and project manager for a wide array of projects across Texas and the United States, including work with aviation, commercial, education, federal, healthcare, industrial, municipal, and residential clients.
Now, backed by a team of structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection experts, Babcock is ready to partner with the firms delivering the building projects that keep Texas and the rest of the country thriving.
“As we begin to look toward the future and continue to expand our footprint, the Facilities Design Team is fortunate to add Ian's experience, leadership, and relationship-building expertise to our team," said Garver Director of Facilities Design John Watkins, PE. “I'm excited to see what Ian and Garver will accomplish together."
