Garver Communications Team wins national award from SMPS
During the national conference of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) this past week, Garver was named the winner of the internal communication digital category for its 2020 Garver SummitLIVE!
Faced with the challenge of organizing Summit, Garver’s annual event held to celebrate what the firm has accomplished over the previous year and to lay out its plans for the future, Garver’s Communications Team had to get creative. While remaining cognizant of necessary social distancing protocols, the team reimagined what would normally be an immersive, three-day in-person event and brought it to the digital realm – ensuring that while the Garver Nation might not be under one roof, they could still be connected.
In order to create excitement and further build a sense of community, the team turned to a series of initiatives like social media contests, watch party kits, and “Garver Runs the Nation,” in which employees could run a mile, 5k, 10k, or half marathon from their respective remote locations and log their times.
Ultimately, when the event livestreamed to more than 30 offices in 13 states, the Garver Nation tuned in.
“Although the 2020 Summit might’ve looked far different than it had in past years, there’s no denying that the Garver Spirit was especially strong during that time,” said Garver Chief Operating Officer Michael Graves. “This recognition is not only a testament to the work of our Communications Team, but to the entire Garver family – and the way in which they overcame physical distance to come together.”
The award was announced during SMPS' Marketing Communications Awards presentation (jump to the 10:15 mark to see Garver's announcement).
Garver Summit 2021, the 10th installment, will be held in October.
