The future of the engineering industry lies with the next generation of engineers, and with that in mind, Garver employees across the country continually dedicate their time to inspiring students and sparking an interest in the engineering field.

For the sixth consecutive year, Garver employees in Frisco partnered with Frisco Independent School District’s Career and Education Technology Center’s Project Lead the Way program to mentor students as they spent their spring semester using 3D printers, a variety of design software, and more to problem solve and bring unique, technical ideas to life. Over the course of the semester, engineers from Garver met with students monthly via Zoom to provide feedback and guidance as their projects progressed.

“This is my fourth year to participate in this event either as a judge or a mentor, and I absolutely love it. It’s a great way to introduce engineering to students, and I’m always amazed with their skills, creativity, and what they come up with throughout the semester,” said Garver Transportation Project Engineer Dusan Jolovic, Ph.D., PE.

The program culminated with a competition between student teams. Projects were judged by a panel, which included five from Garver. The team of two winning students was awarded $1,000 by GarverGives, the firm’s corporate giving program, to help prepare for careers in engineering and other STEM industries. Throughout the six-year partnership with the program, GarverGives has contributed nearly $14,000 in scholarships.
