Multi-phased improvements
Garver performed design and construction on this multi-phased project with over 84,000 square yards (SY) of reconstruction and 50,000 SY of rehabilitation to the terminal and general aviation pavements. Garver developed a comprehensive phasing plan involving access routes, remaining aircraft overnight (RON) layouts, and AARF access to minimally impact all parties. After determining the existing pavement had a useful life much less than originally anticipated, Garver coordinated with the FAA Airport Program Manager for a plan that included a combination of reconstruction and rehabilitation. During design, Garver successfully justified with the FAA the use of compression joint sealant in lieu of traditional silicone joint sealant, decreasing the maintenance potential for these new pavements over their 20-year life.
